North Carolina Poetry Society

The NCPS every year holds a competition for poems in a variety of categories. I was happy to learn that in 2022 I won the Mary Ruffin Poole Award for a poem on a theme of “American heritage, sibling-hood, or nature,” for my poem “Copperhead.” I also won the Alice Osborne Award, “for children 2 to 12 years of age”; my poem was “Hard to Get.”

I was born in Wales and lived there much of my early life, before immigrating to the United States. I have moved up and down the east coast, Florida to New Hampshire, and am finally settled in North Carolina, where I work as an editor and translator. I still travel, when I can, and meantime work on various local civic and arts initiatives.
